Professional profile of the film’s director, Alejandra Islas:
She studied film-making in the Centro Universitario de Estudios Cinematográficos (CUEC), which belongs to the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). She alternates making documentary films with teaching cinematography in the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Morelos (UAEM). Since 2006, she promotes Latin American documentary films through a film festival of her own creation: Festival de la Memoria, which has been held yearly in the Mexican state of Morelos. She has produced and made documentary films and series for cultural TV channels, such as Canal 22, TV- UNAM, UTEC and the Mexican Ministry of Education (SEP). She has been awarded more tan 15 prizes and acknowledgements in Mexico and abroad for her documentary films: El Caso Molinet (The Molinet Case), El Círculo Eterno (The Eternal Circle), Muxes: auténticas, intrépidas, buscadoras del peligro (Muxes: authentic and intrepid searchers of danger) , Los demonios del Edén (The demons from Eden), and El Albergue (The shelter). She has acted as member of the jury at several film festivals in Mexico, Cuba and Spain. On six different occasions she has participated as advisor in the International Film Festival of Guadalajara’s DOCULAB. She belongs to the Sistema Nacional de Creadores de Arte (SCNA), the Mexican National System of Art Creators. Since 2015, she has worked on transmedia narratives.
